What is Good Mood Food and why it has become so relevant?

In recent years we have become more aware of the importance of not only what we eat, but how the food we eat is grown and prepared every day.

At AZULIK, we believe in food as a medium that carries more than day-to-day sustenance. A meal is a unifying ritual within a tribe, and the preparation of food for loved ones is an act of transmission: of feelings of love and care; of ancient traditions, techniques, and stories; and of the energy that travels from the sun to the earth into our fellow living beings, to bringing warmth into the body and the soul. 

Our restaurant Cenote is a celebration of Mexican gastronomy enlivened by the essence of the landscape, resulting in what we call Good Mood Food: the soothing comfort of the familiar homecooked meal made with the highest quality of natural ingredients.

Cenote is a concept that privileges freshness and creativity in the kitchen. Above all, we prize nourishment that comes directly from the earth, avoiding all processed foods. These processes rob ingredients of their natural goodness, to the detriment of one’s physical and mental well-being. 

Each dish is a harmonious composition of textures and flavors that capture the wholesome essence of the region, with the additional flair of foreign accents. Ordinary ingredients are elevated by new, artistic approaches: vegan carrot ice cream paired with beet soup, purple oxalis and pico de gallo; portobellos and shiitakes wrapped together in hoja santa; cheesecake served on tamale leaf. These intermingle with classic staples inherent to Mexican traditions: corn tamale filled with huitlacoche; churros with ice cream; Oaxacan cheeses; and guacamole.

A meal at Cenote is bound to put a smile on your face, and more energy in your step; what benefits the body also benefits the mind.
