Bamboo is an exceptional material. Versatile and highly renewable, this ligneous tropical plant is ideal to raise complex structures and dream up extraordinary buildings. It is aesthetically inspiring and structurally challenging. 

Roth, founder of AZULIK, and his team are currently exploring new ways to build with bamboo. Aided by a collaborator of renowned architect Simón Vélez, they are finding original applications for it, like combining it with bejuco, a local climbing plant that has become a trademark of Roth’s spaces. 

“We are at an experimenting stage. We want to deviate from the traditional path, to make things a bit more interesting”, said Roth. “For now, we can’t say much more because we don’t know exactly where this is going. But here we are, inventing and co-creating”.
